Buccal Massage and Facial Treatment
This is a relaxing non-invasive facial massage treatment that helps release tension in the neck and face. When facial muscles stiffen due to stress, injury or overactive jaw, they obstruct blood flow, lymphatic drainage and detoxification. These issues can cause pain, wrinkles, dark circles and puffiness.
Buccal massage involves massaging pressure points inside the mouth to stimulate the muscles and ligaments in the buccal fat pad (between cheeks and jaw) to tighten and contour the area. To help with boosting blood flow to the area, facial cupping is used in this treatment. A gua sha stone is used in helping to trigger lymphatic drainage and release tension in the jaw.
What to Expect:
- The buccal massage begins with cleansing the skin, followed by massaging the décoletté.
- Once tension is released, the therapist moves onto the face with relaxing, delicate moves.
- Following this is the manual lymphatic drainage and use of facial cups, both of which increase blood flow.
- Then begins the facial massage portion, think of it as a workout for your face! This helps to increase circulation and oxygen to your face.
- The intraoral massage is next, which targets the muscles inside the mouth to release tension.
- To assist in promoting healing, a gua sha is used, followed by a head massage.
This treatment will improve muscle tone and eliminate tension creating a lifted appearance.
Note: the client can opt out of the intra-oral portion of the massage if not comfortable with that process. In that case, the therapist will work longer on releasing tension externally.
